When we last conducted a host survey with anyone who had hosted in the past, or was currently hosting, one of the themes that emerged was that hosts were keen to know more about their guests prior to move-in, and the likely situations they may have come from. There is, of course, a delicate line to be struck between preparing the host – enabling them to be able to provide the best environment for their guest – and maintaining dignity and privacy for the guest.  We do also find find that, in the course of hosting, the relationship will invariably get to a point where there is a trusting relationship, and therefore discourse is naturally established.

We thought that it might be useful to have some general context for hosts.  In answer to this, we have created some ‘Short Guides’ to a few countries which we see many guests come from.

Please do feel free to use them if they are helpful to you.
